The first term of the first year of study
The module is taught by Hakeem Abdul Raheem. The theoretical course text is one of the most famous books of Abu Ali Ibn Sīnā called ”al-Urjuzah fī al-Ṭibb”. The book was taught in Europe over many centuries when Islamic Herbal medicine (originating from Greek medicine) was the only effective medicine practiced by mankind. The book is a summary of, the more expansive and famous book of Ibn Sīnā named, ”al-Qānūn fī al-Ṭibb”, which is classed as his most reliable book on Greco-Arab/Islamic Medicine.
The book covers all chapters of Herbal Medicine in a concise and poetic form and so having studied the Urjuzah student will understand the physiological foundations of Herbal Medicine. The theoretical framework alone allows the keen student to implement basic principals in their own life such as adjusting their diet to their bodies needs; as well as other practical implementations.
